Alleged reports have emerged of Billy Bush being fired from his NBC news hosting position after the release of the Trump tapes.

According to a recent article from the Hollywood Reporter, Billy Bush and NBC are currently negotiating his exit from NBC news. This announcement follows the recent release of tapes that depict a lewd conversation with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. In the tapes, Bush and Trump make promiscuous comments referring to women such as Nancy O’Dell, Bush’s former Access Hollywood co-host and Days Of Our Lives actress Arianna Zucker. Access Hollywood later dated the video taking place in 2005.

Following the tapes’ release, Billy Bush immediately made a statement on the subject. “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry,” he said. In addition, Today senior VP Noah Oppenheim sent out the decision to suspend Bush on October 9. “Let me be clear — there is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape,” Oppenheim wrote. “NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter.”

The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed Billy Bush boasting on the conversation as far back as last summer. However, NBC News reiterated that the news site did not know about the tapes until their release in the previous week. Although NBC News did not comment on whether this release qualifies as a “firing,” many sources believe it to be a natural progression for Bush.

As of now, neither Billy Bush nor NBC News clarified on his formal exit. Currently, Billy Bush serves his suspension from NBC News.
