Students want to make brew from 133-year-old shipwrecked bottle
Students want to make brew from 133-year-old shipwrecked bottle A group of students want to develop a new brew, which they found inside an old shipwrecked bottle! Biotechnology students from State University of New York uncorked a bottle from the SS Oregon, and now want to make a new beer if they can successfully extract yeast! Bill Felter, of Serious Brewing, got the beer from a customer who owns an artifacts recovered from the Oregon. The ship had 852 people aboard when it crashed near Fire Island, New York, and sank on March 14th 1886: with only one person surviving the tragedy. It wouldn’t be the first time such a beverage has been made: last year an Australian brewer produced beer from yeast recovered from a 220-year-old shipwreck!
